Character Interview for The Duchess Quest

2 Dec

Today I’m hosting a character interview for the book tour for “The Duchess Quest”, a fantasy / romance novel. I’m interviewing Jon Cosmith, one of the characters in the book.

Character Interview

Character: Jon Cosmith
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
For starters, dear, you can call me Jon – all my friends do. And I’m certain you’ll wish to become quite friendly with me before your little interrogations are through. Ha… I digress. I may or may not be a Jordinian fugitive who abandoned my government… but who’s keeping track, anyway? More importantly, I’m surely the cleverest and best-looking suitor our young Duchess shall have the fortune of encountering along her journey.
What is your role in the story?

Ah, story. Aye, it’s recently been brought to my attention that, of all tales in which to be featured, mine is called The Duchess Quest. Truly? Could the author not have bestowed a more masculine-sounding title for the likes of me? Alas… To answer your question, pet, as I’ve no doubt you’re intensely curious about me, my role is to pursue the lovely Duchess Eludaine (among the other insufferable imbeciles competing for her hand), and secure the gold – er, I mean, the darling girl – for my very own.
What is your favorite hobby?

I’d not call them hobbies so much as skills, my dear. For example, you may not realize exactly how much practice is involved to perfect the art of taking things undetected. That’s stealing, you challenge me? Well then, answer me this: is taking from an utter fool, who neither notices nor deserves what’s missing, really stealing?
What is the challenge you’re trying to overcome during the story?

Ha! I daresay, my little interrogator, but you amuse me to no end. To put it bluntly, darling, nothing challenges me. I am the challenge.
If you could make one wish, what would it be?

Oh, I need not wish for anything, my sweet. Whatever I desire, believe me, I obtain. Anything is possible. It’s only a matter of time and strategy.

DavidBrownDavid:  David Brown could be considered a fantasy fanatic, especially since he has spent the last 10 years developing a 47,000-year history for his fictional world of Elenchera. When converting his obsession into literary form, David commits himself to a rigorous writing and editing process before his work can meet his approval. Combined with the critical eye of his wife and a BA Hons in History and English, David’s dedication leads him to his goal of inspiring readers through heartfelt stories and characters.

Although David is inspired primarily by fantasy fiction, he also finds his muse in the form of anime, world cinema, history, and biographies. His own books, Fezariu’s Epiphany and A World Apart, combine aspects from worlds both old and new into compelling tales of a world not soon forgotten., David himself certainly does not lack a spirit of adventure; in fact, he left his job in 2007 in order to spend a month travelling. Second only to meeting and marrying his wife, David counts this as one of the most amazing experiences of his life.

Book Excerpt from Cross Roads

19 Nov

Today no interview, but a snippet instead! This time from a YA urban fantasy / action adventure book called “Cross Roads”. Enjoy!!

Book Excerpt

The next morning, Decker sat in his black sedan hidden by its tinted windows. The information he had received from the tablet led him to the Garden Way Hotel. The hotel was new in the city on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Decker held a camera in his hands like a photojournalist on assignment. He had taken pictures of everyone who had entered the hotel but only construction workers had entered.

Decker had been in place across from the hotel since dawn. Earlier that morning he had managed to place security cameras near the other entrances that fed directly into his computer. His laptop sat next to him in the passenger seat. Decker had views of the docking and loading area as well as the other entrances of the hotel. It was past eleven o’clock when Decker finally saw activity that interested him. A silver sedan pulled up in from of the hotel. The driver hurried out and opened the rear passenger door. The man who emerged from the backseat was tall, thin and had blonde hair that had been neatly combed back. He wore an expensive suit and a gray long coat. He looked to be in his late thirties and wore dark shades. Decker immediately recognized him and lowered the camera away from his face. His mouth gaped slightly.

“Linus.” he said aloud to himself as if to confirm what his eyes had just witnessed. He quickly raised the camera and rapidly took pictures. The driver led Linus inside. Decker made sure to get a picture of the car and

the plates as well. Decker was certain that whatever was going to happen would take place in this hotel and soon. He quickly turned his attention to his laptop and saw guards taking position at the entrances and securing the perimeter of the hotel.

Decker reached into his pocket and retrieved his cellphone. He hit a speed dial number and the phone picked up on the second ring. No one spoke on the other end. They didn’t have to.

“Confirmed. It’s Linus alright. The Garden Way Hotel.”

“Roger that. Over and out.” replied the deep male voice on the opposite end.

Decker disconnected the call. Now, like a predator hunting its prey, Decker would play the waiting game with his target until it was time to strike.

Author Interview Shawndirea Tour

11 Nov

Today I’m interviewing Leonard D. Hilley II, author of fantasy novel “Shawndirea”. Enjoy the interview!

1.) First, tell us about yourself- where you live, your family and those sorts of details.

I have always loved biology and writing. I have a B.S. in biology and my MFA in creative writing. This probably explains why a lot of my novels cross between science and fantasy. My love for biology, however, is what keeps me digging deeper and asking, “What if?”

I currently live in the mountains of Kentucky with my wife and children. I love being surrounded by nature, and there are wondrous areas to hike and explore here. The serenity is priceless.

2.) When did you start writing?

I started writing at a young age. I wrote my first novel when I was 11 years old. I have always loved books, so it’s never been a surprise to me that I would write my own novels.

3.)Do you have a favorite place to write?

A lot of where I write depends upon my schedule. I teach general education courses at a local business college, so I squeeze in time to write at my office, the library, or my home office. Sometimes my best writing has occurred during these times, and I’m thankful for laptops.

4.)Why did you decide to write Shawndirea?

Shawndirea was originally set to be a novella as a backstory for Devils Den. However, the characters took over and an epic novel evolved with two more novels to follow. The fantasy world of Aetheaon is so vivid and filled with strange mystical characters that a dozen or more novels could spawn from this realm.

5.)Do you proofread/edit your own books or do you get someone else to do that for you?

I generally proofread each page a dozen or more times. I have several great beta readers (two that are remarkable editors), and their feedback is priceless.

6.)Tell us what you’re working on at the moment.

I’m halfway finished with the book that follows Shawndirea. I’m also working on a science fiction thriller that is a stand alone novel from my Darkness Series.

About Shawndirea

Upon examining his catch, Ben is horrified to discover he has captured a faery and shredded her delicate wings into useless ribbons.

Devastated, Ben vows to take Shawndirea back to her realm, Aetheaon; but he discovers that doing so places their lives into immediate danger. To get to Aetheaon, they must pass through a portal rift deep inside the haunted cavern, Devils Den.

Once they cross the rift, Ben enters a world where mysteries, magic, betrayal, and power struggles await. He must adapt quickly or die because Aetheaon is filled with enchanted creatures and numerous races where chaos often dominates order. And since Shawndirea’s destined for the throne of Elvendale, opposing dark forces plot to prevent her from ever reaching her kingdom again. The faery’s magic isn’t enough to fully protect them, so he must trust other adventurers to aid them during their journey.

Book Excerpt from The Vineyard

10 Nov

Today I’m hosting a snippet from a literary fiction novel, “The Vineyard”. I hope you enjoy the snippet.

Book Excerpt

Trafalgar Wallace the Third, referred to by friend and foe alike as “Tripp,” was not widely regarded as a good man or a bad man, as most people measure character. He was known as a practical man, which is a very different thing. He came from a long line of practical men who knew two things well enough that they didn’t need or care to know much else: the proper way to invest the family’s money and the proper way to spend it—or not spend it, preferably, while enjoying the things money could buy before grudgingly passing the remainder on to the next ungrateful generation. By this self-defeating credo, as the Wallace family tree spread and swelled in size across the centuries, the multiplying heirs were required to spend less of the family’s money than those who came before them. This demanded a temperament they all distinctly lacked. As the latest Wallace heir, Tripp was doing on the ocean that day what he did best: squandering what was left of his inheritance.

Book Excerpt from The Leopard Vanguard

9 Nov

I’m hosting an excerpt today from historical fantasy novel “The Leopard Vanguard”. In a few days, I’ll be hosting an excerpt from its sequel, so if you liked this excerpt, stay tuned for the next one!

Book Excerpt

Prologue: The Opportune Battle

{March 12th, 36 AD}

“Ad augusta per angusta.”

“To high places by narrow roads.” –Latin expression

At the edge of the world’s greatest Empire, two armies gathered on a battlefield.

Tullus Acilius Ulixes, Prime officer of the First Cohort, and senior Centurion of the 3rd Legion, watched the opposing army of Parthians gathering in the distance. Here he was, surveying another battleground: this one a grassland, dotted with short clover patches stretched out over an expanse, soft earth under his feet. Men would die here today. “ I hear the Parthians are quite an effective fighting force,” Tullus said. His friend and Optio, Decimus Axius, was preparing to leave for the final inspection. Around them men were preparing the siege engines for battle.

“I hope this young Prince our leaders are backing is worth the blood and sweat of five thousand Roman soldiers,” Decimus said.

“Vitellius knows what he’s doing, Decimus. Besides, Emperor Tiberius wants the incumbent Artabanus II off the Parthian throne. He says this new figurehead Prince, Tridates, will bring stability along our eastern borders.”

“Sometimes you sound more like a bloody politician than a Roman officer, Tullus,” Decimus said. He trudged off to inspect the ranks.

Tullus grinned. He certainly didn’t feel like a politician: dressed in his steel helm with transverse red plume crest, ring mail shirt under a leather harness decorated with gold phalerae. Leather pteruges extended beneath his harness while a blue cloak and greaves completed his uniform. Tullus turned to admire the first line of his troops: dressed in their strip armor, iron helms and armed with shields and spears. Despite the tedious four day march from their base in Syria they were ready for battle–that’s what it meant to march under the Eagles of Rome.                            The pale blue heavens stretched out above him, filled with soft clouds outlining the yellow sun. His attention centered on a jagged cloud resembling a Griffin’s head as it announced its regal presence across the sky. He had seen a drawing of a Combat Griffin once, in a cave, when he was a boy, its image forever etched in his memory. The majestic creatures had disappeared years ago, while their legendary riders, the Air Paladins, had faded into history. Tullus sighed and turned his attention back to his surroundings. The sun beat down on him mercilessly, warm for March, and it would get warmer once the battle commenced–the close proximity of men killing one another did that.

“Something on your mind, Tullus?” Decimus was back from his inspection.

Tullus eyed the jagged cloud again. “What I wouldn’t do for an Air Legion of Combat Griffins above us.”

“And who would ride them my friend?”

“Well it wouldn’t be me, Decimus. You know I don’t like heights.”

Book Excerpt from Weekend Experience

6 Nov

Warning: Excerpt is for adults only.

Book Excerpt

“Linda, it is my belief that all spankings should be administered on the bare bottom.” She gasped, but didn’t say a word. “Because you’re cooperating so well, I’ll give you the option of taking your birthday spanking on the bare, or double that on your underwear.” It hit me that she might be wearing a thong, which would make the underwear option moot.

But she quickly responded, “I guess I’ll let you do it on the bare, Sir.” I smiled. This was getting better and better!

I lifted the hem of Linda’s dress with both hands, folding it onto her back, exposing her from the waist down. She was wearing cotton bikini panties, covered with tiny purple, red, and yellow flowers, and violet waist- and leg-bands. I read ‘Victoria’s Secret’ on the waistband.

I used both hands to lower the underwear, taking hold of both sides, and slowly lowering the back until half of her bottom was exposed. Linda surprised me again, when she lifted her middle slightly, allowing me to lower the underwear, until they were holding her legs together at mid-thigh. I gazed down at Linda’s big, beautiful bottom, and realized that there were no tan lines; perhaps we had all misjudged Linda’s comfort with nudity?

I slid my right hand over her fleshy globes, giving each one a little pat. My left hand rested on Linda’s lower back – ready to hold her in position, if that were necessary. I glanced up, and saw that Julie and Kelly were both mesmerized by the scene unfolding in front of them.

Leaning over towards Linda’s head, I whispered, “I’m going to give you the first few slowly, so that you’ll know what to expect. Then, the rest will be given quickly. I need you to stay in position. I suggest you take a few deep breaths, and then you can let me know when you’re ready”. I put my right hand on Linda’s right buttock, which was wobbling before I had even begun her spanking.

I felt, and heard, Linda’s breathing and then – more quickly than I had expected – she said softly, “I’m ready.”

Very quietly, I said, “OK, here we go.” I gave Linda a hard spank on her right side, and watched as a white handprint appeared on Linda’s pink bottom. Then, I gave her a hard spank on the left side. I had expected Linda to rear up and shriek when she felt the first couple of spanks but, unbelievably, Linda not only remained in position, but she didn’t make a sound.

After a few seconds, I proceeded with her spanking, giving her a medium or hard spank about once per second or two. I alternated sides, and her bottom was now reddening quickly. Linda kicked her feet a few times, but was otherwise perfect in the role of ‘bottom’. The 25 spanks were finished quickly, and I rubbed her bottom, my hand going in circles, starting at the center of each buttock and spiraling out.

“Kelly, what were the extra spanks for, again? You can call them out, one at a time.” Kelly smiled at me and nodded, ‘getting it’ instantly.

“One for good health.” And I spanked Linda as hard as I could on her right side. CRACK! The sound echoed in the otherwise-quiet room.

A loud “Ow!” came from Linda, but she held her position admirably.

Kelly continued, “One for good wealth.” My hand came down with a loud SMACK on her left side. Another ‘Ow!’ from Linda. I looked up at Kelly.

She said, much louder now, “And one for long life!” And I gave Linda another hard swat on her right side. WHAP! There was no exclamation, but I heard, and felt, Linda breathing heavily.

Linda had bounced after each of the three hard spanks, but kept herself in position. I was amazed. I heard her sniffle a little, but then she turned her head and looked up at me. “Thank you, Sir, for my birthday spanking.” Incredible!

I lowered Linda’s dress again, leaving her panties around her thighs, and said, “Linda, please stand up, now, and I’ll give you another hug.”

Linda stood, as I had requested, her dress covering her as usual, but with her underwear now showing below her hemline. I stood up next to her, in the narrow lane between the loveseat and coffee table, and gave her a big hug. As I hugged her, my hands went down and cupped her buttocks. For the benefit of Julie and Kelly (OK, and me, too), I lifted the back of Linda’s dress with my left hand, and vigorously rubbed her bottom with my right hand. When I dropped her dress, I realized that Linda was hugging me, her head on my chest.

I had planned to allow Linda to raise her own panties, but impulsively decided to lift them myself. I did this by feel only, my eyes looking up at Linda’s face, as reached down, taking the waistbands at each side, and inching the fabric up and over her bottom, my hands under her dress. I slid my hands around the waistband, making sure it was smooth, and then removed my hands and let her dress fall into place again. I hugged Linda again, and gave her a peck on each cheek (the ones on her face). “Thank you, Linda. You did great. I am very impressed by your ability to control yourself. And, that you were open enough to go through with the spanking, at all.”

I took my arms from around Linda, and sat back down on the couch. Both of Linda’s hands went to her bottom, and she rubbed herself through her dress and underwear. She looked down, and gave me an inscrutable smile. But not that inscrutable: At that moment, I knew that she had enjoyed the experience. And probably would come back for more.

WEEKEND EXPERIENCE is an intimate exploration of kinks and fetishes by an unlikely couple, with thoughtful and philosophical discussion by the characters, and graphic descriptions of their erotic adventures.

Sam and Kelly have role-played some of their most intimate fantasies in an atmosphere of openness and trust.  Now, Sam wants to share with Kelly new kinks, fetishes and sensual pleasures.  Kelly is more than a willing participant:  She is the mirror by which Sam sees that his openness and submission is as important as Kelly’s.  A visit by her friends leads to new fantasies for both of them.

The Experiences series is an epic love story of erotic relationships and sexual desires. Written in a ‘literary realism’ style, the series introduces Sam in the prequel, and the blossoming of his intimate relationship with Kelly as the series progresses. Fantasies and real-world adventures coalesce to mold a unique bond between unlikely lovers. Where needs are mutually satisfied in an open, creative and trusting environment. Where physical and mental boundaries are pushed. Where the concepts of love and sex are never confused, but sometimes confusing. Where openness is required and intimacy is expected. And where fair-is-fair, regarding the punishment of transgressions.

Contemporary erotic romance: Suitable for mature readers, aged 18+ years.

About The Author

SimoneFace Small 140811An adventuress and traveler, Simone is a sensual being who loves to read stories that excite her.  She takes exception to authors who promote their works as ‘dirty’, ‘filthy’, or ‘smutty’:  She believes that sex is wonderful in all of its incarnations, and doesn’t shy away from graphic descriptions of realistic sexual experiences, no matter how messy.  Her writing is mainly in the ‘literary realism’ style – i.e., it is wild (even outrageous) … but could really happen to you!  She values openness in relationships, and demonstrates this through her characters.

Prior to becoming an author, Simone was a nurse.  One of her pet peeves is reading erotica that gets simple anatomy wrong!  She is continually bewildered by women who haven’t explored their own bodies.  Another pet peeve is the mostly hung-up Victorian society prevalent in the U.S. and U.K., and she tries to do her part to change that by introducing people to new sexual and sensual experiences through her erotic writing.  The activities in Simone’s books are quite realistic, as she has participated in most of these in ‘real life’, as surreal as it may seem.

Simone is currently completing the Experiences series, which will run an estimated 1,000,000 words!  That is why she refers to it as an ‘epic’ romance, although each volume is intended to stand on its own, with a ‘happy for now’ ending.  Experiences combines literary style and philosophical discussion by the characters with graphic portrayal of sex in all of its kinks and fetishes.  You may not like all of the things Simone’s characters do … but neither do they.  Their exploration of new experiences will hopefully motivate some readers to explore their own sexuality to a greater extent.

Simone loves to hear from her readers, so feel free to contact her.   In fact, she hopes you will feel ‘free’ sexually and spiritually, as well.  Please follow her on social media and her blog.  On her website, you may interact directly with the main characters in her books, including asking them questions in order to understand their perspectives in more depth.
