Character Interview Shadow’s Moon Tour

15 Jun

I’m hosting a character interview today with one of the characters from “Shadow’s Moon”, a paranormal romance / urban fantasy by Jami Gray. Enjoy!

Can you tell us a little about yourself? Who are you? What is your role in the story?
Moi? Let’s see, basic deets: Xander Cade, Tracker for the Northwest Motoki Pack, sister to one very annoying, lawyer-y type, and the one and only squeeze to the stubborn ass, alpha, Warrick Vidis. I’m more than enough for him to handle and he claims I’ll turn him gray early. (snorting) Please. More like, he needs me to remind him there is more to life than politics, meetings, and the end of the damn world. The man needs to lighten up a bit, take a few chances, maybe learn to socialize a little.
I’m me, short, curvy, blonde with an attitude. One I have no intentions of ever changing. In my world, females who don’t know what they want, when they want it or how they want it, get steamrolled. Hell, even Raine has to watch out for Gavin. That man can be downright sneaky in getting her to do things she doesn’t want to do. As for me, well, let’s say I take notes on Gavin’s skills. You never know when they’ll come in handy for nudging my alpha on the right path. And when nudging doesn’t work, there’s always a two by four.
Jami decided to throw a metric crap ton of  game changers at my alpha, so I’m not real happy with her right now. I know that’s why she’s hiding out. Damn good thing she made sure to keep me in the picture. Warrick gets so blinded by his past and what he thinks he needs to do to protect everyone else, he fails to see the dangers circling him. I’m here to watch his back and stand beside him, not behind him. Not only is he vital to the life I intend to be come accustomed to, but he’s vital to our pack, and our people. And by that I mean the Northwest Kyn.  Of course, I’d rather hand all that stress to someone else, but he won’t walk away.  (Looks away) But if he did try to walk away, he wouldn’t be the man I love  either, damn catch-22.

What is your favorite hobby?
(Tapping nail against her lips in thought) Hobby? I love my baby—she’s sleek, fast and can make the road weep under her tires. Ducati’s make the most beautiful creatures, and mine’s the top predator, no doubt about it. (Secretive smile) Besides, Warrick tends to like sitting behind me, makes the rides so much more fun.

What is the challenge you’re trying to overcome during the story?
(Looks uncomfortable) If you ask me, it’s trying to get Warrick to realize what “partner” really means. (Frowns) According to Jami, it boils down to trust—do I trust Warrick enough to accept me, the real me, not the laughing, teasing, quirky face I give to everyone else, and can Warrick trust me enough to stand beside him, not view me as a weakness for our enemies to exploit.
If you could make one wish, what would it be?
Wishes are dangerous things, they can come back and bite you in the ass.  (Tilts head to think)

Tell us a secret about you.
I’m a closet gambler—seriously, if I can bet on something I will.

Even a wild heart can be broken…

A blonde, a brunette and a monster walk into a bar and all hell breaks loose.

It should have been the start of a bad joke, but days from a full moon Xander Cade, Tracker for the Northwest Motoki Pack, finds nothing funny about confronting an enraged Shifter in a crowded Portland nightclub filled with unsuspecting humans. The resulting carnage frays an already thin veil of secrecy shielding the supernatural Kyn community from public scrutiny, and ensures she can’t escape the one man she’s been determined to avoid, her Alpha and mate, Warrick Vidis.  Dominating, protective and compelling, Warrick threatens her individuality like no other.

As the Northwest Alpha wolf, compromise isn’t in Warrick Vidis’s vocabulary, but when his reluctant mate, Xander Cade, refuses to leave off the hunt for a killer, he has no qualms using whoever or whatever necessary to protect her or his pack. A series of unusual deaths involving lone wolves, along with anonymous threats against him and his Pack, begin to jeopardize his normal steely control. Add in Xander’s continual reluctance to fully accept their Soul bond, and the line between intellect and instinct begins to blur, leaving him wondering if one woman’s love and acceptance will be enough to save both man and wolf.

As the danger escalates, threatening not just their Pack but those closest to them, Warrick and Xander must find a way to trust each other and accept their rare bond or risk losing everything-their pack, their friends and each other.

Now, years later, she’s back in the Southwest where she’s outnumbered in her own home by two Star Wars obsessed boys, one Star Wars obsessed husband, and an overly-friendly, 105-pound male lab.  Delving into the wild paranormal worlds where romance collides with suspense and Urban Fantasy is queen, manages to salvage her sanity. Or so we let her believe…
