I’m interviewing Amanda Cowen today. She’s the author of contemporary romance “Between Friends”. Welcome to The Book Daily, Amanda!

1)          First, tell us about yourself – where you live, your family, and those sorts of details.

I’m a Canuck who lives in Northwestern, ON. I have two children and they are my world. My weakness is cupcakes. I am a country music junkie and a hopeless romantic who watches one too many, ROM COM’s.  And if there are three things you should know about me, it’s that I love adventure, fruit and wine.

2)      How long have you been writing?

Since I was about twelve – I would lock myself in my room and write stories for hours.

3)          Do you have a favorite place to write?

Oddly enough, I like writing at my kitchen table.

4)      Why did you decide to write Between Friends?

Between Friends was inspired and is based loosely on my group of friends that I have had since the seventh grade. Before Between Friends, I was working on another contemporary romance when my closest male best friend called me to tell me was engaged.  We had been best friends forever, and I started to wonder what it would have been like if we had ever crossed the friendship line…then a light bulb went off in my head and I was like… wait…that is a great idea for a contemporary romance!

5)      Who is your favorite character in your book and why?

Ben! Tall, dark and handsome wins every time.

6)      How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you?

Stephanie. I wrote her to hate her. She is that one friend who is all about herself.

7)      Do you proofread/edit your own books or do you get someone to do that for you?

For Between Friends I proofread/edited my own work with a little help and the use of beta readers. I would never recommend doing it yourself though, for my next novel PERFECT SENSE I have hired an editor.

8)      Tell us what you’re working on at the moment.

Right now I am working on my next contemporary romance PERFECT SENSE that is anticipated to release Winter 2014.  And I am really excited about this novel! I really pushed some of my personal limits when writing this one. I like to read fluffy and I like to write fluffy, but once I started writing this novel, I realized that this time, my story couldn’t be all fluff. Perfect Sense has darker elements than other things I have written before, but no matter what I write, I can guarantee that there will always be a funny and flirty side to my story. I love Quinn, my female lead because she is sassy and driven. And I especially love my male lead, Cash, a hot and demanding jock who always has just the right amount of stubble in every chapter haha.

If you want to know more about what PERFECT SENSE is all about, you can read the synopsis provided below! And you can add it to your GOODREADS list by CLICKING HERE!

He’s gorgeous.

He’s reckless.

And he’s every woman’s dirty fantasy in the state of New York.., except one… Quinn Ashby.

Recent graduate of Brown and top of her class, Quinn is whip smart, ambitious and interning as the new marketing director for the Albany Devils Hockey team. The last thing she needs is to waste her time on guys…especially one as lethal to her focus as Cash Brooks.

But once the bad boy hockey star tempts her into his world, threatening her professional future, she’s forced to decide whether to let him into her heart…or to leave him behind forever.

Between Friends

Between FriendsTitle: Between Friends

Author: Amanda Cowen

Genre: Contemporary Romance

The only way to have a friend is to be one…especially between the sheets…

When neurotically challenged and unlucky in love Megan Daniels is propositioned by her life-long friend Ben Romano with a coin toss (heads, they sleep together, tails, they don’t) the night before they are about to attend a destination wedding, she drunkenly accepts his challenge. But when Megan wakes up the next morning with a bad hang-over and Ben in her bed, she is more than mortified. It isn’t until the tropical heat begins to ignite emotions Megan never believed or thought she could possibly have, when she starts to question if risking their friendship is the answer to finding true love.

A cute and contemporary debut novel, BETWEEN FRIENDS faces one girl’s struggle between the fine lines of friendship and love and the risk of opening up her heart to the possibility of forever.
