We’re interviewing Marie Morgan, the author of erotica novella “Getting Lost” today. Thank you for answering our questions, Marie!

The Interview

1)      First, tell us about yourself – where you live, your family, and those sorts of details.

Wow. I’ll do my best. I live in North Georgia and have a ton of siblings and the most wonderful set of parents anyone could ask for. Seriously, they’re saints for putting up with all the crap we’ve thrown at them through the years. My mom just ducked, recovered, and gave us a smile that told us we were in deep doodie. I’m in my late thirties and the youngest (I’m sure you can imagine how many nieces and nephews I have). But we’re a pretty tight family unit. I’m not married but I do have a couple of children of my own. Juggling work, writing, and family is one heck of a job.

2)      How long have you been writing?

Since I was a little girl. I used to write to the local newspaper where I grew up; but never had the chutzpah to send any of it in. I found one of those articles recently. Not bad for a kid. Since then I’ve honed my craft by taking classes on writing. I think you get a lot of great information from a class; but you have to know what to take with a grain of salt and what to pull into your style. If everyone wrote the same way, books would lose their luster.

3)      Do you have a favorite place to write?

I enjoy writing in my office or at any coffee shop that’ll put up with my presence for more than a couple of hours. They tend to give you looks if you hang out there too long or too often. I’m not trying to be the creeper. Besides, if a man sees a woman sitting alone for an extended period of time, they seem to think that woman is on the prowl. Why is that? Ha, ha! Relationships are the last thing on my mind right now.

4)      Why did you decide to write Getting Lost?

I think the Erotica genre could use something different. It needs more stories that have an actual plotline rather than being about one random hookup after another. I’m trying to change the way people view Erotica and BDSM as a whole by showing them it’s okay to let go and get lost once in a while with someone they trust or in a place they feel safe and won’t be judged. It’s an attempt to fill a gaping hole. BDSM isn’t about being harsh; it’s about letting go and finding yourself at the same time.

5)      Who is your favorite character in your book and why?

I love them all! This is a difficult question to answer. If I had to choose one, I’d say it would have to be Cicily. Seems like a cop-out, I know. But she’s such a damaged young lady and I’m having fun healing her through her journey.

6)      How about your least favorite character?  What makes them less appealing to you?

Another hard one! Henry. He’s supposed to be this strong, commanding man. But he lets himself get carried away when he sees Cicily and he falls hard for her. She has this sexy charm and fire inside that he’s drawn to. We all love the rebels!

7)      Do you proofread/edit your own books or do you get someone to do that for you?

I use INDIE Books Gone Wild for my editing and print book formatting. They’re amazing. I love my print version so much! Amazon has a look inside option so you can take a peek at the great job they did. As a bonus, I signed up for Amazon’s Matchbook program. If you buy the paperback, you get the digital version free.

8)   Tell us what you’re working on at the moment.

I’m writing the second book in The Island series: Crossroads. This one will delve more deeply into Cicily learning to behave through punishment and will tell you more about him. I know everyone is anxious to find out who this mystery man is. It should be out mid-2014 or sooner.

Thank you for the opportunity to interview with you. I hope you get a chance to check out Getting Lost.
